An initiative that grows together with its people. Throughout the 14 editions of Make it Grow, 31,000 trees have been planted in Comana Natural Park. On 22 November 2025, JCI Bucharest is organizing the 15th edition of the Make it Grow project, one of the longest-running and most appreciated reforestation initiatives in Romania. This year, volunteers, companies, and the entire community are invited to contribute to a new ambitious goal: planting 3,000 seedlings that will bring us closer to the final target of 55,555 trees planted for Romania.

Brands, companies, institutions, students, and people from all fields are encouraged to join this initiative, because every piece of land touched, every tree planted, and every act of involvement contributes to the future we are building together. Make it Grow is a community in motion, an expression of collective care for nature, and proof that sustainable change begins with small, repeated, committed steps.

“Make it Grow is more than just a reforestation project. It is a commitment to the future, an example of collaboration and collective responsibility. Within the project, we aim to integrate our action with the four impact areas of JCI: business and entrepreneurship, individual development, international opportunities, and community impact. So far, with the support of the community, the Comana Forest District, and our partners, approximately 31,000 trees have been planted, helping restore green areas around the Capital. It is our way of contributing to improving quality of life in our community while protecting the environment for future generations,” said Magda Balțatu, President of JCI Bucharest.

How can you get involved?
Depending on your preference and availability, you can choose one of three participation options:

  • Communication partner – promotion of the event on your social media channels
  • Strategic partner – financial support/purchase of trees
  • Logistics partner – contribute with goods or join the planting activity with your team

Besides the joy of reconnecting with nature, companies joining this project will benefit from community impact, a team-building activity for employees, and positioning as a socially responsible brand. For details and registration, visit: https://jcibucuresti.ro/make-it-grow-editia-15-2025/

“Through this project, JCI Bucharest is developing a long-term monitoring and education program dedicated to forest health and sustainability. MAKE it GROW aims to inspire and generate change through concrete reforestation actions and by cultivating responsible education toward nature. People are a natural continuation of the environment, and when we plant a tree we are reminded of who we are at our core and we reconnect with the living rhythm of the world. Building a forest of 55,555 trees thus becomes a collective act of responsibility and a return to what unites us all: life. At Green PR Global, we constantly support this initiative precisely because it brings people and nature together. With every tree planted, we are building both a forest and a culture of reconnection and continuity,” said Mădălina Sandu, Founder & CEO of Green PR Global, communication partner of JCI Bucharest.

The Make It Grow project began in 2017 and has, over the years, contributed to sustainable development goals (SDGs) such as climate action (SDG 13) and life on land (SDG 15). Make it Grow by JCI Bucharest aims to continue this initiative each year, with at least one planting day per season, and to monitor the plots already reforested together with the Forest District and the communities supporting this cause. Since 2017, through the Make It Grow program, more than 31,000 seedlings have been planted, and the bold goal for the coming years is to plant 55,555 oak seedlings in Romania.

The planting event is part of the national reforestation program, and the oak trees will become part of the Comana Natural Park forest in Giurgiu county, a legally protected area. The oaks planted in previous editions were only the beginning, as another 5 hectares are available to help restore part of the park’s ancient forest. This project promotes and increases ecological responsibility and ensures area monitoring through a long-term learning and development program.
